Meet Dean Cherpelis, DDS, FAGD, at Bell Family Dental in Bayside, NY

Dean Cherpelis earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Queens College of the City University of New York and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from the SUNY School of Dental Medicine in Buffalo. He completed his postgraduate training at Jacobi Hospital/Montefiore Medical Center.

His commitment to continuous learning includes completing a one-year implant training program through NYU/Brookdale Hospital and pursuing extensive postgraduate education in modern general, restorative, cosmetic, and implant dentistry. He is certified in Invisalign and oral conscious sedation. He is a Fellow of the AGD, an achievement earned by only 6% of dentists in the United States. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.

Dean Cherpelis approaches dentistry with a focus on individualized care, believing that while a diagnosis identifies a problem, the treatment plan must fit the specific person. His philosophy centers on listening carefully, educating honestly, and preserving natural teeth through conservative or minimally invasive treatment whenever clinically appropriate.

Dean Cherpelis takes the time to explain reasonable options—along with their potential advantages, limitations, expected longevity, and costs—so patients can make informed decisions about their care.

Dean Cherpelis provides a broad range of dental services, including general and preventive dentistry, restorative care, tooth-colored fillings, crowns, bridges, dental implants, implant-supported restorations, cosmetic dentistry, and Invisalign clear aligner treatment. He also offers oral conscious sedation for appropriate patients and designs comprehensive, phased treatment plans for complex dental needs so urgent concerns can be addressed first.

Additionally, Dean Cherpelis has a background in forensic dentistry, having served as a deputy chief forensic dental consultant to the NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner and as a Tour Commander during the World Trade Center recovery effort following September 11, 2001.

He is a member of the ADA, AGD, and Queens County Dental Society.
